Is there a bus from Dubai to Doha?
Not on one ticket. By coach, the way to Doha with Belad Al Sham comes in two parts: our coach from the UAE to Dammam, operated with our Saudi partner SAT, then a SAT coach from Dammam to Doha that enters Qatar at the Salwa border. Each part is its own ticket, and you can book both on beladelsham.com.
Search Dubai to Dammam for the first coach (it also boards in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi), then Dammam to Doha for the second. Because you travel through Saudi Arabia to reach Qatar, Saudi entry rules apply to the whole Saudi part of the trip, so read the documents section before you book.
Which way does the road from the UAE to Qatar go?
The UAE and Qatar do not share a land border, so every road journey between them crosses Saudi Arabia. Our coach leaves the UAE at the Al Ghuwaifat border post near Al Sila, enters Saudi Arabia at Al Batha, passes Al Hofuf and arrives at the SAT station in Dammam. From Dammam, the SAT coach to Doha reaches Qatar at Salwa, the only land crossing between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, opposite Qatar's Abu Samra border post.
The Salwa crossing reopened in January 2021. Like every border it works to the authorities' schedules, so trips run subject to border and authority decisions, which can change around public holidays.
How do you plan the connection in Dammam?
The two tickets are separate, so the coach to Doha does not wait for the coach from the UAE. Choose a Dammam to Doha departure that leaves well after your first coach is due in Dammam, because border crossings can take longer than planned; if the dates suit you, plan a night in Dammam and continue the next day.
Your coach from the UAE arrives at the SAT station in Dammam, and your Dammam to Doha ticket shows where the SAT coach leaves from. If your plans change on the way, message us on WhatsApp and our team will look at the options with you.
What documents do you need to travel from Dubai to Doha by bus?
You need to be allowed into two countries: Saudi Arabia, where you travel to Dammam and on to Salwa, and Qatar. GCC citizens can travel on their national ID card or passport for both. Everyone else needs a Saudi visa that allows entry by land, and must meet Qatar's entry rules, which you check on Qatar's official Hayya platform before you travel.
For the Saudi part we follow the Saudi system: nationalities on the Saudi eVisa list can apply for an eVisa online, and everyone else needs a valid Saudi visa or iqama before the day. For Qatar, residents of GCC countries can apply on Hayya for the GCC Resident Visa; other travellers should check what their nationality needs on the same platform.
Rules on both sides are set by the authorities and can change, and the officers at each border have the final word. Check the official Saudi visa platform and Hayya before you pay, and carry your passport and Emirates ID the whole way.
Where do you board?
The first coach boards at our offices in Dubai (Al Murar, Deira), Sharjah (Al Soor, near King Faisal Mosque) and Abu Dhabi (Al Nahhat Street, New Shahamah), and your e-ticket names your boarding office. Our Ajman office sells tickets, but Dammam coaches do not board there.
Arrive early with your QR pass open on your phone: our team scans each passenger at the door and checks passports and visas before your luggage goes into the hold. In Dammam, the SAT coach to Doha leaves from the point shown on that ticket.
What happens at the Salwa border?
At Salwa you complete Saudi exit formalities, then cross to Abu Samra for Qatari entry, with customs checks on luggage. Keep your passport, Saudi visa and Qatari approval where you can reach them, have them ready when asked, and follow the driver's guidance; the time at the border varies.
Earlier, on the coach from the UAE, you will have crossed into Saudi Arabia at Al Ghuwaifat and Al Batha, so expect passport control and customs at both borders. Pack your hold bags so they are easy to inspect, keep medication with its prescription in your hand bag, and never carry anything for someone else.
Where does the bus arrive in Doha?
The arrival point in Doha is shown on your Dammam to Doha ticket. Check it before you travel and save the arrival point and your final address on your phone.
From the arrival point, a taxi or a ride-hailing app is the simplest way to continue, so make sure your phone has data in Qatar, through roaming or a local SIM, and tell whoever is meeting you which coach you are on.
How much luggage can you take to Doha?
On our coach from the UAE to Dammam each passenger has 40 kg, as two bags of 20 kg, plus a hand bag. The SAT ticket from Dammam to Doha shows its own allowance, so check it before you pack, and ask us about anything extra or bulky when you book.
How do you book, and how do you get back?
Book both tickets on beladelsham.com: search Dubai to Dammam (or start from Sharjah or Abu Dhabi), then Dammam to Doha. Every passenger gets their own QR pass with each ticket. Our team on WhatsApp, at any hour, or at any of our offices can help you plan the dates.
For the way back, the SAT coach runs from Doha to Dammam, and a coach runs from Dammam back to Dubai; each is its own ticket, and you need valid Saudi entry documents for the return as well.
