How do you get from Dubai to Dammam by bus?
You book a seat with Belad Al Sham, board at our head office in Al Murar, Deira, and travel on a coach operated with our Saudi partner SAT. The coach leaves the UAE near Al Sila, enters Saudi Arabia at Al Batha, passes through Al Hofuf and arrives at the SAT station in Dammam.
Below is the trip step by step, from the documents you need before you book to planning the journey back. If you would rather board in Sharjah or Abu Dhabi, everything here still applies; only your boarding office changes.
Step one: do you need a visa for Dammam?
It depends on your nationality, and nobody boards without the right document. GCC citizens enter Saudi Arabia with their national ID card. Holders of a passport on the Saudi eVisa list can apply for an eVisa online before they travel. Everyone else needs a valid Saudi visa or a Saudi iqama before the day of travel.
Every traveller, children included, also needs their own passport, and UAE residents should carry their Emirates ID to come back. Saudi entry rules are set by the Saudi authorities and can change, so confirm yours on the official Saudi visa platform before you pay. When you book with us, the booking asks you to confirm a valid visa for any passenger whose nationality needs one, and our team checks documents again before boarding.
Step two: how do you book the Dubai to Dammam bus?
Search Dubai to Dammam on our website or in the Belad Al Sham app, choose your date and pay by card; your e-ticket arrives straight away, with a QR pass for each passenger. You can also book on WhatsApp by sending a photo of your passport, at any hour, or in person at any of our four offices.
At an office you can pay by card, or reserve your seat and pay cash before the payment deadline shown on your booking. Online booking opens a limited number of days before travel, so if your date is not in the calendar yet, it has not opened; message us and our team will advise you. You always see the full amount before you pay.
Step three: where does the Dammam bus leave from in Dubai?
In Dubai, Dammam coaches board at our head office in Al Murar, Deira, on Al Khaleej Road, and your e-ticket shows your boarding office and departure details. If Sharjah or Abu Dhabi is closer, you can board at our Al Soor office in Sharjah or our New Shahamah office in Abu Dhabi instead.
Our Ajman office sells Dammam tickets, but the coaches do not board in Ajman, so Ajman travellers usually board in Sharjah. We board passengers only at our offices, never at malls, roundabouts or home addresses. Come early: our team scans each passenger's QR pass at the door, checks passports and visas, and loads your luggage into the hold.
Step four: how much luggage can you take to Dammam?
Each passenger travels with 40 kg of luggage in the hold, as two bags of 20 kg, plus a hand bag on board. If you are moving with more than that, or carrying anything bulky, tell our team when you book so we can advise you before the day.
In your hand bag, keep your passport, visa or ID, your phone and charger, any medication, water, snacks and a light jacket for the air-conditioning. Pack the hold bags neatly, because customs may open them at the border, and never carry a bag or parcel for anyone else, however well you know them.
Step five: what happens at the Al Sila and Al Batha border?
The coach leaves the UAE at the Al Ghuwaifat border post near Al Sila, in the far west of Abu Dhabi emirate, and enters Saudi Arabia at Al Batha, the land crossing between the two countries. You complete UAE exit formalities, then Saudi entry formalities, and customs inspects the luggage.
Time at the border varies with traffic and the season, so keep water and snacks to hand, have your documents ready when you are asked for them, and follow the driver's guidance. Trips run subject to border and authority schedules, which can change around public holidays.
Step six: does the bus stop in Al Hofuf?
Yes. After the border, the coach passes through Al Hofuf, the main city of the Al-Ahsa Oasis, before it continues to Dammam. If you want to get off in Al Hofuf rather than Dammam, ask our team when you book, so we can confirm it for your trip.
At any stop, stay close to the coach, keep your documents and valuables with you, and follow the driver's instructions about when to be back on board. Your family can follow the coach's progress on the live tracking link the whole way.
Step seven: where does the bus arrive in Dammam?
The coach arrives at the SAT station in Dammam, the terminal of our partner SAT, and the arrival point is on your e-ticket. Collect your hold luggage, check you have everything, and continue by taxi or a ride-hailing app to your address in Dammam, Al Khobar or Dhahran.
Before you leave Dubai, switch on roaming or plan to buy a Saudi SIM, and share the live tracking link with whoever is meeting you, so they reach the station when you do. Our Dammam travel guide covers the city itself: money, SIM cards, getting around and what to see.
Planning the trip back from Dammam to Dubai
Return trips run the same route back to the UAE, through Al Hofuf and the Al Batha border. Ask about the return when you book your outward seat, or message us on WhatsApp from Dammam once your plans are fixed, and our team will tell you what is available for your date.
Keep your Emirates ID, or your UAE visa if you are not a resident, with you the whole time you are in Saudi Arabia, because you need it to re-enter the UAE at the border.
